Apply for Domicile Certificate : The new set of rules called Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules 2020 issued by the administration in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday define who was qualified to be a competent authority to issue such certificate, the time frame within which the domicile can be issued and also, surprisingly, the punishment awarded to the concerned official who fails to furnish the domicile on time.
According to fresh orders individuals who are residing in J&K from 15 years or have studied for 7 years or appeared in examination of 10th & 12th Class are eligible for grant of Domicile certificate. This eligibility also extends to West Pakistan refugees registered as migrants under the erstwhile state’s Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.
J&K Govt has launched an e-application cum issuance of Domicile Certificate in J&K. The app has been developed by Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA).
The permanent resident certificate (PRC) holders and other applicants can apply for issuance of domicile certificate online by providing their Aadhaar number and receive the certificate through online mode. PRC holders will be able to receive their domicile certificate through this application.
With the launch of this service, there are now 27 government to citizen (G2C) online services, a government spokesman said.
“It is an addition to the Union Territory government’s e-governance initiatives to speed up public delivery mechanism through minimal human intervention, besides ensuring efficiency, transparency and reliability of such services,” he added.
B V R Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Bipul Pathak, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and Administrative Secretary of Information Technology department; G N Ittoo, Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla and other senior officers were present, in person and through video conferencing.
